Healthy Pet Food “Natural or Organic” – Health Is Not Found in a Bag!

Have you read the paragraph of ingredients on a bag of “healthy” pet food? The ingredients should be the "food" - not a whole list of fillers and added synthetics to supplement the contents.

We surrender our companion’s health when we feed them food from a bag. The FDA found Sodium pentobarbital to be common in pet foods. Per the FDA, “The low levels of exposure to sodium pentobarbital (pentobarbital) that dogs might receive through food is unlikely to cause them any adverse health effects, Food and Drug Administration scientists concluded after conducting a risk assessment”. Is Sodium pentobarbital a big deal in the food? YES, it is! Virbac, the pharmaceutical manufacture of Sodium pentobarbital states in the product insert “[…] for use in dogs for humane, painless, and rapid euthanasia”.

How would you feel consuming “safe” levels of Sodium pentobarbital in your food?

The AAFCO “[…] address the use of ingredient names in the product name”. A pet food manufacturer is required to list the ingredients it used in the product, but is not required to list the detailed ingredients that make up the purchased ingredients. Toxic substances go unlisted on the packaging. How could we have control of what our companions ingest when the manufacturers don’t even know at times.

Ok … let’s go “dark” for a moment … how did this chemical end up in the food? Google it … the visual I had upon my discovery is well ingrained in my heart and mind. It’s sad and sick to see what happens to many euthanized companions and farm animals not met for human food consumption. Here are a few videos > Video1 / Video2 / Video3 / you can search for more. What if you are one that cares so much that you buy the “best food” … I mean the most expensive food? Organic doesn’t mean much in the pet food industry. Per AAFCO, "Organic" refers to the processing of a product, not the quality of the product. Processing!? What about the ingredients!

I could go on and on about ingredients … it's not just the ingredients! The 'cooked' ingredients that causes all sort of issues in our carnivores and major deficiencies. Our companions now suffer similar diseases as we do. We think we have ‘domesticated’ our carnivores. Per Wayne, “[…] studies have shown that from a genetic standpoint, the domestic dog shares more than 99.8% of its mDNA with the wolf”, (case, 2008). Sharing our lives with our domesticated companions has not changed their carnivores’ nutritional needs.

Think about it … the dog’s wild cousin (wolf) or the cat’s wild cousins (lions or tigers) do not cook their food. They kill, rip apart the fresh meat, bones and organs and eat it uncooked. Their digestive system can handle this, they were born for this! Another thought … when did you see a carnivore dig up sweet potatoes or eat broccoli or peas? … yes dogs may be opportunistic scavengers …they work hard at surviving, BUT they will only thrive on a true carnivore diet.

Oh … but that new bag of pet food is “raw” …Hmm read the labels … read the ingredients! All those added synthetics are to make the content in the bag “well-balanced”. True food, true ingredients … do not need added supplements and not synthetic ones at that! Our carnivores’ bodies were not designed to detoxify synthetic ingredients.

Could you imagine eating the same thing each day, each meal, from a bag of dead food with added supplements? Take control of your companions’ health. Allow them to thrive. Give them the opportunity to heal, retain health and live happily!
